Some of the residents from the Salem Golden Living Center participated in one of the My Fishing Pond Inc. events that took place on Thursday, June 13.
There were five residents and four volunteers who participated in the event. The first person who caught a fish was resident, Susan Cole, who received a pink Scheels fishing hat. The biggest fish was caught by resident, Bill Blake, who received a camouflage Central Farmers’ Cooperative hat .
“Its been a few years since Golden Living participated in one of the My Fishing Pond events,” activity advisor, Lisa Stromberg, said. “ I think the residents enjoyed the experience at the fishing pond. It was nice weather, the convenience of coming and how close It was, was great. The fact that they had everything set up when we got here and had all the supplies was really nice. That way we could focus on the residents, and it was a lot of help. We really liked the fact that everything was close to home.”
The biggest small mouth bass was caught by resident, Arlene Thietje, and volunteer Art Schaefer, both from Monroe.
After a great lunch they headed for home.
“The experience was great, the staff was really friendly and helpful, and everything was a great turn out,” Stromberg said. “ I plan to do this again in the future!”
